Castle Dairies Launch TV Advert

Posted on 27th February 2023

In the latest instalment of Food & Drink Wales‘ #LoveWalesLoveTaste / #CaruCymruCaruBlas campaign, Castle Dairies have launched their first ever television advert. In a unique approach to consumer marketing, this is one of four adverts produced as part of a collaborative project between Castle Dairies, Edwards the Welsh Butcher, Radnor Hills and Blas y Tir, with the aim to increase brand awareness of the Welsh retail food heroes within their respective categories.

Filmed by Copa Cymru, the 30-second ad follows the story of a young family at home, with the incorporation of Castle Dairies products at different meal times throughout the day, and their varying usage occasions.

The narrative begins with a teenage son switching off his phone alarm. Dressed in his school uniform, he emerges in the kitchen looking tired, and immediately opens the fridge to take out some Castle Dairies Welsh Spreadable. He proceeds by making some buttered toast as a quick breakfast on the go, before dashing out of the front door just in time to catch his bus to school.

As he leaves the house, his mother simultaneously passes him whilst she comes downstairs, and moves through to the kitchen. In doing so, the wall clock in-shot animates the passage of time to mid-afternoon. The mother is seen preparing a traditional Welsh cake, bara brith, with a slather of Castle Dairies Salted Welsh Butter, which she then enjoys as a lunchtime treat with a cup of tea, as she works from home on her laptop.

We then see the mother picking up her closed laptop at the end of her working day, which is replaced by a dinner plate with cutlery. The lighting becomes warmer to signify again the change of time; in this instance, to the evening. A doorbell is sounded, indicating that one set of grandparents have arrived for dinner.

Following this, we see the teenage boy at the kitchen island still in his uniform, alongside his mother and younger sister who are preparing vegetables and mashed potato, respectively. Upon close inspection, the father is also involved in the foreground preparing a steak to be cooked. We see close ups of butter melting in a cast iron pan before a circular disc of Castle Dairies Salted Welsh Butter with Halen Mon Anglesey Sea Salt Crystals is sliced on the chopping board ready to sit on top of the steak that has now been added to the pan.

The mash is finalised, and fresh vegetables, bread and butter arrive at the table, before we eventually see all of the family sat together in delight in the setting of a special dinner occasion, enjoying a delicious meal.

At the end of the advert is a hero shot of all three Castle Dairies products that are used during the advert. This is accompanied by a voiceover from TV and radio presenter Sion Tomos Owen reading “Love Wales, Love Taste with Castle Dairies / Caru Cymru Caru Blas gyda Castle Dairies” with the on-screen text “Any Meal, Any Occasion”. This tagline implies the versatility of Castle Dairies’ product range in terms of both the ways that it can be incorporated into mealtimes, and the different types of occasions that it can be enjoyed.
